I don’t know why I found this so funny. I actually turned around, got out of the car and snapped this picture. Are things that tough for the homebuilders right now that they can’t afford to pay the sign shaker dude? I kind of felt sorry for the whole sign shaker community; their days must be numbered...
... Then I saw this fine example “shaking” two blocks down the road, I didn’t feel sorry any more. Maybe the homebuilders are just smart.

There goes the marketplace!
Seriously? There's a MARKET for sign shakers???
There are a few students I would love to drop off to shake signs as they believe themselves too good for school so they could see what it's like. But only if it's raining or sleeting heavily to teach them a lesson.
Wow, that first shaker is really lousy! He's not even moving! Fire him!
The second guy? He's just come to terms with his life and his place in the universe and he's probably just meditating, waiting for people to come to him. Can't blame the guy.
By the way, I'm seeing palm trees in those pictures, and it's reminding me of summer. Damn you Californians!!
Here a guy dressed in a Mickey Mouse costume, holding a sign for a going out of business furniture store, was caught on film being arrested for a probabtion violation. I wish I had saved the picture. It was both amusing and depressing. I think the only people the sign people hire in Maine are sex offenders or other people with police records.
OMG! Can you get the builders up here to get the inanimate sign shakers? I swear that every weekend I come super duper close to running down at least half a dozen of these dudes because every freaking corner in this town has several. Although it is funny watching them compete with the muffy cheerleader types who are holding a fundraising car wash...
